Dec 24, 2018Funeral services were held on November 15, 2018 at Greater St. Stephen African Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Dr. Carl L. Anderson, pastor.Mrs. Gamble was born January 15, 1967 in Georgetown, SC, to the marital union of Mrs. Thomesena Kinlaw Alston and Mr. Johnny Alston. She was an active member of Greater St. Stephen A.M.E. Church. Yolanda graduated from Georgetown High School in 1985. She earned the Associate of Business Degree from Mansfield College in San Antonio, Texas. For over fourteen years she was employed as a clerical/nurse assistant in the Ob/Gyn Units of Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Tidelands Waccamaw Health Hospital in Georgetown County. For thirty years, she was united in marriage to Mr. Ronald Gamble. Together, they shared life and love in the rearing of two children.Surviving are her husband, Ronald Gamble, Georgetown, SC; her sons, Cessay Gamble, Georgetown, SC and Shannon Gamble, Charlotte, NC; her siblings, Wanda Lawyer, Derek Alston, Johnny Alston, Travis Alston, Georgetown, SC, Devun Harrison, Jacksonville, FL, Creola McClain, Andrews, SC, Chenell Linen, Columbia, SC, and Bernadette Franklin, Georgetown, SC. Funeral services were held on November 16, 2018 at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Lorenzo Smalls, Sr., pastor.Mrs. Gamble was born on September 10, 1946 in Georgetown, SC, a daughter of Mr. Oliver Reed and Mrs. Mattie Palmer Reed. Her secular education was received in the public schools of Georgetown County. After graduation from high school, she moved to New York. There, Verdelle married her high school sweetheart, the late Mr. Clarence Martin Gamble. Their union was blessed with three daughters. For several years, she worked with Dickard Widder Textiles Company as a sample maker, until retiring in 1998, and returning to Georgetown.
